Shelby Rogers v Arantxa Rus Head to Head
It’s 1-o to Rogers; they last met in the 2019 Mallorca Open qualifiers, where the American prevailed in three sets.
Rogers Coming off a Decent Spell
World No. 31, 29-year-old Shelby Rogers has had a good practice run en route to the Flushing Meadows.
To begin with, she reached the final in WTA 500 San Jose (losing to Daria Kasatkina), but in the process, she dismissed a handful of big names like Bianca Andreescu, Maria Sakkari, Amanda Anisimova, and Veronika Kudermetova.
That was also her first singles final on the WTA tour since the Rio Open in 2016.
Rogers followed it with a third-round stint in Cincinnati, where she went down to Aryna Sabalenka after putting up a solid, three-set fight.
Shelby has had her moments over the course of the season; she was a semifinalist in the Libema Open and had numerous third-round appearances in Miami and Indian Wells Open.

The left-handed star has concentrated her efforts mainly on the low-tier ITF and Challenger circuits events, where she has seen some success. She also won a couple of ITF titles in Spain and Italy and had similar feats in the doubles department.
Rus was the runner-up in Valencia Challenger as well.
As for her WTA track record, her last tournament was the Poland Open, where she lost to Sara Errani in the opener. In the US Open, Arantxa has not made it past the first round since 2011.
Rogers v Rus Prediction and Tip
