1.20pm Newbury – Download The BetVictor App Handicap (1m 2f)
DEFINITE backed up a win at Haydock in June with another solid showing when second over this trip at Nottingham last month, beaten only by a progressive sort completing a hat-trick of wins for Sir Mark Prescott. From an unchanged mark, Ralph Beckett’s son of Kingman is taken to add to his tally.
Selection: Definite @ 2/1 with Paddy Power
1.40pm Ripon – William Hill Ripon Hornblower Conditions Stakes (5f)
Wen Moon bagged a maiden over course and distance four weeks ago and has more to come, while New Definition sets the standard on ratings. However, PRINCE OF PILLO could build on his success over 6f in a novice stakes at Ayr last month and is a player for Keith Dalgleish.
Selection: Prince Of Pillo @ 3/1 with Paddy Power
1.55pm Newbury – Denford Stakes (Listed, 7f)
Candle Of Hope, Cite d’Or and Ferrari Queen are all unbeaten but they may find VICTORY DANCE too strong. Charlie Appleby’s Dubawi colt won a Newmarket maiden on his debut in June and was only inched out in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes back at HQ last month. That’s the best form on offer.
Selection: Victory Dance @ 4/6 with Paddy Power
2.10pm Newmarket – JenningsBet Fillies’ Handicap (1m 6f)
Sea Sylph was a promising second at Newbury over 1m 5f last month and can win soon for new trainer Alan King, but ATLANTIS could be hard to beat for the Gosdens and Frankie Dettori here. The Sea The Stars filly made short work of her Doncaster handicap debut last month over 1m 4f and looks set to relish this longer trip. A 9lb rise may not stop the follow-up.
Selection: Atlantis @ 11/8 with Paddy Power
2.30pm Newbury – BetVictor Geoffrey Freer Stakes (Group 3, 1m 5f)
Martyn Meade’s Zechariah is a danger under Tom Marquand and in receipt of weight from his older rivals but AWAY HE GOES is preferred after a creditable run in the Goodwood Cup last month. That was a high-class staying contest and he finished fifth, taking a step forward. He’s a strong stayer and can land this prize under Sean Levey.
Selection: Away He Goes @ 9/4 with Paddy Power
2.50pm Ripon – William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap (6f)
This can go the way of Steph Hollinshead’s consistent mare AL SIMMO who won over track and trip in May and has two more wins in three starts since, most recently a Class 3 race at Newmarket. She goes up another 3lb and this is her toughest assignment to date, but she’s a fair price to take on the likes of Summerghand and Blackrod.
Selection: Al Simmo @ 16/1 with Paddy Power
3.00pm Newbury – Play Pick 6 at BetVictor Handicap (7f)
FIVETHOUSANDTOONE produced a good effort last month when second in a Salisbury Conditions race, going down a short head having managed to find himself in traffic despite facing only two rivals. First-time cheekpieces appeared to have a positive effect and, with the headgear retained, he could well go one better.
Selection: Fivethousandtoone @ 4/1 with Paddy Power
3.18pm Newmarket – JenningsBet Grey Horse Handicap (6f)
In the ever-popular grey horse contest. Harry Davies’s claim is an asset for Mister Bluebird and he looks set to run well but WENTWORTH FALLS is 3lb lower than when finishing a close second in this race a year ago. He’s not getting any younger, but he’s on a nice mark if putting his best foot forward.
Selection: Wentworth Falls @ 12/1 with Paddy Power
3.35pm Newbury – BetVictor Hungerford Stakes (Group 2, 7f)
Run To Freedom just repelled Fivethousandtoone at Salisbury last time but may not be as good upped in trip, so last year’s Greenham winner CHINDIT gets the vote over the same course and distance. Winner of the Summer Mile at Ascot last month, he has a penalty for that score and will find this a lot easier than the Sussex Stakes he contested since at Glorious Goodwood. He has won four of six previous starts at this 7f trip.
Selection: Chindit @ 9/2 with Paddy Power
